The largest collection of aircraft and spacecraft in the world is available in this breathtaking, admission-free museum in the heart of Washington. It is an interactive museum and a very family-friendly one. It was opened in 1976 and it is located near the Capitol Building.
Among its most impressing exhibits are e.g. the Wright Flyer, the Spirit of St. Louis (the plane that successfully finished the first ever transatlantic flight), Apollo 11 Command Module, or the famous Star Trek ship – USS Enterprise (the model that was used for the filming). Apart from the ships themselves, you can also admire a huge collection of uniforms, spacesuits, various equipment, technical drawings, manuscripts, and documents. Be sure to save enough time for the visit (at least 3 hours).
Due to its popularity, the museum is often crowded so be prepared for lots of people around you.
Please enter through the Jefferson Drive entrance on the National Mall side of the Museum.
