Nowshahr is a city and capital of Nowshahr County, Mazandaran Province, Iran. People of Nowshahr speak the Kojuri dialect of the Mazanderani language.
It is a port city, located on the southern coast of the Caspian Sea. This city was the center of Ruyan.
