Also known as the Christ Church of Boston, this church holds three records. It is the oldest standing church in Boston, the most visited historical sight in the city and it also has the tallest steeple in Boston, nearly 60 metres high.
Built in 1723, it also played a crucial role in the American Revolution. In April 1775, when British forces were advancing along the Charles River, Robert Newman, an American patriot, gave a signal from the church's top by lighting two lanterns. This helped alert the U.S. soldiers of the enemy's position.
Part of the church is also a chocolate shop, which sells chocolates made according to 18th-century recipes. Fans of computer games may remember the church from the latest addition to the Fallout series: Fallout 4.
