Open-Air Mining Museum

Local nameBanské múzeum v prírode
LocationBanská Štiavnica, Slovakia

Banska Stiavnica was and is famous for its mining industry and history and what better place to learn about it than an Open-Air Mining Museum with a guide through a real gold and silver mine. You get a proper attire, a helmet and a torch to use in the mine and see antique mechanisms used by miners (including a horse ridden one - though without a horse).
It's best to call-in and book a tour with an English-speaking guide (an extra 15 euros for a guide) as their insights and stories complete the whole experience.
You should wear proper clothing and shoes as it gets a little cold in the mines and the ground is rocky and slippery.
