Portugalete is a station of line 2 of Metro Bilbao and is located in the centre of Portugalete. Opening on 20 January 2007, it acted as the northern terminus of the line until the Santurtzi extension was opened.
The Cercanías Bilbao commuter railway network also has a Portugalete station on its C1 line, but they are not at the same location – there is a distance of about 950 metres between them.
