This is the largest and the second busiest airport in Brazil connected to many domestic and international locations.
The Galeão International Airport, located 20 km from the city center of Rio, consists of two terminals - T1 and T2 - located next to each other. The airport is accessible via bus shuttle, taxi or transfer companies that provide transfer from and to various hotels.
TransCarioca line of the BRT (bus rapid transfer system in Rio) connects Terminal 1 and 2 with Terminal Alvorada (bus station in Barra da Tijuca). It also stops at Line 2 Subway Station Vicente de Carvalho which gives you access to the whole subway system. The system operates round the clock and tickets can be bought in BRT booths at the airport.
Four bus lines (2018, 2101, 2145, 2918) of Real Auto Bus will get you to the airport. The buses usually operate between 5.30 am and 10.30 pm and run every 30 minutes, but please check the official website for hours of operation of each line. Tickets are sold at both terminals.
Free wifi is available for 60 minutes. Connect to RIO GALEAO Wi-Fi.
