The government of the City and County of San Francisco is seated at this impressive Beaux-Arts building. The original old City Hall, which the current one replaced, was finished in 1899 but it was completely destroyed during the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. The present-day City Hall was finished in 1915. It has the tallest dome in the US (even taller than the dome of the Capitol Building in Washington).
It is a popular wedding place, all the more popular since Marilyn Monroe married Joe DiMaggio there in 1954.
