Shibuya 109

Local nameShibuya 109
LocationTokyo, Japan

This shopping mall, located right next to the famous Shibuya Crossing, is the place to go to if you are interested in the latest fashion trends. The mall mainly features clothing stores targeted towards women, but there's a lot of them featuring men's clothing, too. Although the prices of the goods on sale here vary, they are generally held to be very affordable, too.

The seven-stories-tall building was opened in 1979. It was meant to provide space and opportunity for Japanese designers, both the old and the new. Each of the first 6 floors is filled to the brim with fashion stores. If you get hungry from all the browsing, head to the 7th floor. This is where the restaurants are.

Popular especially among the youth, the mall is said to have given birth to the Japanese gyaru subculture, which specializes in trendy attire and carefree attitude.
