Built around 1250, this historic fortress originally served as a guard castle and refuge. The site exhibits medieval defensive architecture and is designated as a National Cultural Monument. The castle underwent significant transformation under the Thurzó family before being destroyed by imperial forces in 1710 during an anti-Habsburg uprising.
The remains offer scenic views of the surrounding landscape. A volunteer association currently manages the preservation of the ruins. The site is open to the public for sightseeing and hiking.
