The Maison des Canuts is a small, hidden museum that offers a great recapitulation of the history of silk weaving in Lyon. As it's such an important part of the city's background, there are also guided tours in French with English information printed out to follow the tour along.
There's also a gift shop with products made of silk that's also worth a visit.
