A UNESCO World Heritage site since 2004. It is true that the park is mainly famous for being the first place where the Icelandic parliament assembled but it's really its splendour and sports activities (from hiking to diving) that attract its visitors nowadays.
It is here where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet and the volcanic landscape thus created is truly unique and spectacular. Come and marvel at the beautiful nature that featured e.g. in the popular fantasy series Game of Thrones (as the Eyrie valley).
When visiting, be sure to consult the weather forecast in advance.
