Rich in cultural venues, this neigbourhood has always been a popular place for immigrants and working class for its proximity to London Docklands.
It became the center of local Jewish community in the 19th century. Also, it is infamous for the so called Whitechapel Murders involving Jack the Ripper, who murdered prostitutes here.
