Zattere Promenade

Local nameFondamenta delle Zattere
LocationVenice, Italy

The promenade is a great place where to get some rest from the busy life of Venice. Being located slightly off the beaten track and therefore less crowded than most sights of Venice, the promenade is a great place for a calm stroll with some ice cream. It is also lined with bars, cafés and restaurants where you can sit down and enjoy the view.

There are several buildings worth noticing located there. You should not miss the two magnificent churches – the 15th century Santa Maria della Visitazione and the 18th century Santa Maria del Rosario. There are also imposing palaces located there - Palazzo Molin or Palazzo Priuli Bon.

The view of the Giudecca Canal (and the nearby located Giudecca Island) is especially imposing during the sunset and the sunrise.

The lovely walk down the promenade is a great way how to finish a busy day of sightseeing.
