Distrito de Aveiro

Aveiro District Essentials

The Aveiro District spans from the Atlantic coast to the rugged Arouca Geopark. In the city of Aveiro, active salt pans and Art Nouveau architecture line the canals, while nearby Costa Nova is known for its traditional striped wooden houses. To the east, the Arouca Geopark features the 516 Arouca suspension bridge and the 8.7-kilometer Paiva Walkways along the Paiva River. The region also includes the Frecha da Mizarela, mainland Portugal's highest waterfall, and the medieval Castle of Santa Maria da Feira.
