Historic Sites and Ruins
Centered on the UNESCO-listed Diocletian’s Palace, this collection features the monumental gates—Golden, Silver, and Brass—that historically guarded the Roman imperial residence. Beyond the palace walls, the list includes the massive Gregory of Nin statue and the monument to Marko Marulić, both works by renowned sculptor Ivan Meštrović. It also highlights the engineering of the Roman aqueduct, which supplied water from the Jadro River, alongside ancient Illyrian burial sites and local memorials.
A Diocletian's Palace
Ancient Roman palace built for Emperor Diocletian, featuring ruins, fortifications, and architectural elements from Roman, Renaissance, and Baroque periods. It is a UNESCO World Heritage archaeological site and a notable filming location.
B Golden Gate
Also known as Porta Aurea, this was the main northern entrance to Diocletian's Palace. Historically, it was reserved for the Emperor and his family and features niches that once held statues of the four tetrarchs.

The Bronze Gate, or "the Southern Gate", is the smaller of the four principal Roman gates into the stari grad of Split.
D Gregory of Nin
A monumental bronze statue by sculptor Ivan Meštrović depicting the 10th-century bishop who advocated for the use of the Old Church Slavonic language. It is a local tradition to rub the statue's big toe for good luck.
E Silver Gate
The eastern entrance to Diocletian's Palace, known as Porta Argentea. It was heavily restored in the 20th century after being partially enclosed and integrated into later medieval fortifications.
Marko Marulić
A bronze statue by Ivan Meštrović honoring the 15th-century poet and humanist known as the 'Father of the Croatian Renaissance.' The monument is situated in the historic Fruit Square.
