The Maison forte de Reignac is a well-preserved cliff castle and troglodytic site built directly into a rock face. Originally a prehistoric shelter, the site was fortified during the Hundred Years' War in the 14th century and underwent further architectural modifications in the 16th century. It stands as the last intact example of a cliff-castle and is classified as a Monument Historique. The structure overlooks the Vézère river and includes a variety of underground and aerial rooms.
The interior is fully furnished and functions as a museum. Notable areas include a Great Hall of Honor, a weapons room, and a chapel. A specialized exhibition focuses on torture and the death penalty, displaying period instruments. The site also preserves prehistoric findings from its earliest inhabitants. The castle is open for public exploration.
