Arxan National Forest Park Essentials

Located within the Greater Khingan Range of Inner Mongolia, Arxan National Forest Park is a volcanic field containing high-altitude crater lakes and basaltic landforms. The area is defined by its diverse ecosystem of larch forests, thermal springs, and the headwaters of the Taoer and Halaha Rivers. Highlights include the 1937 Swiss-style railway station in Aershan town and a series of 'Heavenly Lakes' formed in dormant volcanic vents during the Quaternary period.

阿尔山国家森林公园

This expansive park in the Greater Khingan Range features volcanic landforms, thermal springs, and dense larch and birch forests. It protects a unique landscape of crater lakes and the source of several major regional rivers.

Tuofengling Tianchi Lake

A camel-shaped crater lake situated at an altitude of 1,284 meters. Formed during the Quaternary period, it is the deepest volcanic lake in the region and is surrounded by thick forests and jagged volcanic rock.

Arxan Tianchi Lake

A circular crater lake located 1,332 meters above sea level atop Tianchi Mountain. The lake has no visible inlet or outlet, yet its water level remains remarkably constant throughout the year.

Aershan

Built in 1937, this Swiss-style railway station features yellow walls and granite masonry. It remains an active transportation hub for the Bai-A and Yi-A railways and is a preserved historical landmark.

Dichi Lake

Unlike the region's high-altitude crater lakes, this is a low-lying volcanic lake situated below the surrounding terrain. It is known for its clear water and unique surrounding volcanic soil compositions.

Taoer River National Wetland Park

This conservation area protects the upper reaches of the Taoer River. It features riverine wetlands, meadows, and serves as a habitat for diverse bird species within the Greater Khingan Range ecosystem.
