Mountain Huts & Shelters

This network of high-altitude huts and shelters provides essential infrastructure for navigating the Pirin and Rila ranges. Located within protected national parks, these sites offer refuge along major hiking trails, including the E4 European long-distance path. Key locations serve as primary base camps for ascending Vihren Peak or crossing the Koncheto ridge, while remote shelters like Tevno Ezero provide high-alpine accommodation near glacial lakes.

H.Vihren

Located at 1,950 meters in the Banderitsa valley, this hut serves as the primary base camp for ascending Vihren Peak (2,914m). It is accessible by road from Bansko during the summer months.

Tevno Ezero Shelter

The highest shelter in the Pirin Mountains, situated at 2,512 meters on the shores of Tevno Lake. It is a vital junction for high-altitude routes connecting the northern and southern parts of the range.

Zaslon Konceto

A small emergency shelter perched at 2,765 meters on the narrow Koncheto ridge. It provides critical safety for hikers traversing the steep, cable-secured marble crest between Banski Suhodol and Bayuvi Dupki peaks.

Pirin Hut

Situated at 1,640 meters in the southern Pirin, this hut is a key stop on the E4 European long-distance path. It provides access to the less-visited southern peaks and trails leading toward Melnik.

Bezbog Hut

Located at 2,240 meters next to Bezbog Lake, this hut is accessible via chairlift from Dobrinishte. It serves as the starting point for trails to the Polezhan and Popovo Lake areas.

Hiza Avorov

Built at 1,740 meters in the northern Pirin, this hut is the main gateway for the Koncheto ridge traverse. It is known for its proximity to the Bayuvi Dupki–Dzhindzhiritsa biosphere reserve.

Sinanitsa Hut

Set at 2,185 meters by the Sinanitsa Lake, this hut sits directly beneath the marble face of Sinanitsa Peak. The site is a popular destination for its distinct alpine scenery and glacial cirque.

Spano Pole Shelter

Located at 2,090 meters in the Spano Pole circus, this site features unique bell-shaped bungalows. It offers access to the Bashliyski Lakes and serves as a transit point toward the southern Pirin.

Hiza Demanica

Situated at 1,895 meters at the confluence of the Demyanitsa and Gazeyska rivers. It is a central hub connecting the town of Bansko with the high-altitude Tevno Ezero and Tipitsite ridge.

Hiza Bnderica

Located at 1,810 meters in the Banderitsa valley, near the 1,300-year-old Baikushev’s Pine. It provides access to the Kazana cirque and the northern climbing routes of Vihren Peak.

h. Ribni Ezera

A Rila Mountains hut situated at 2,230 meters between the Lower and Upper Fish Lakes. It is a strategic stop for hikers on the E4 trail between the Rila Monastery and Kanarata Peak.

Located at 2,166 meters on the Mechi Prohod saddle, this hut connects the Rila and Pirin ranges. It is one of the highest huts in the Rila Mountains and offers Wi-Fi access.

Granchar

Positioned at 2,187 meters by the Granchar Lake in the Rila Mountains. It serves as a southern base for routes toward Musala Peak and the Treskavets valley.

Begovitsa hut

Also known as Kamenitsa hut, located at 1,750 meters in the Begovitsa River valley. It is the main starting point for ascending Kamenitsa Peak (2,822m) and exploring the southern Pirin cirques.

Kazana Shelter

A small emergency metal shelter at 2,445 meters in the 'Great Cauldron' cirque. It sits directly beneath the 400-meter vertical North Wall of Vihren Peak, primarily used by climbers and winter hikers.
