Best Beaches

Central Macedonia's coastline spans the Thermaic Gulf and the three peninsulas of Chalkidiki. This selection includes the white rock formations and turquoise coves of Sithonia's Kabourotrypes, alongside the shifting sand spit at Possidi Cape, which features a 19th-century lighthouse. Closer to Thessaloniki, the organized sandy stretch of Peraia offers views across the gulf. The list also highlights the secluded Voulitsa beach on the Athos peninsula and the narrow isthmus of Lemos Beach at the southern tip of Sithonia.

A

Kabourotrypes

Known as Orange Beach, this site features small turquoise coves separated by white limestone rock formations and pine forests. Rock carvings, including a mermaid, are visible along the shoreline of Sithonia’s eastern coast.

Paralia Peraias

A long, sandy beach on the Thermaic Gulf, located 15 kilometers south of Thessaloniki. The waterfront is lined with traditional fish tavernas and offers views of the city skyline and Mount Olympus.

Lemos Beach

A narrow sandy isthmus at the southernmost tip of the Sithonia peninsula, near Porto Koufo. It features deep, clear waters on both sides of the land bridge.

Voulitsa

A sandy cove located near Nea Roda on the Athos peninsula. It is characterized by calm, shallow waters and is sheltered from strong winds.

Beach

Home to a shifting sand spit that extends into the Aegean Sea, changing shape according to the tides. The area includes a lighthouse built in 1864 and the archaeological remains of the Sanctuary of Poseidon.
