Dachstein Mountains Must-Sees

The Dachstein Mountains, a central part of a UNESCO World Heritage region, are defined by the 2,995-meter Hoher Dachstein peak and a vast karstic plateau. The area contains unique geological formations, including the Rieseneishöhle ice caves and the world’s oldest salt mine at Salzwelten Hallstatt. High-altitude access is provided by the Dachstein Glacier Cable Car, reaching 2,700 meters, while engineered platforms like 5 Fingers and the Skywalk offer views over the Hallstätter See and the surrounding Northern Limestone Alps.
