Olympic National Park Camping

Olympic National Park features a diverse range of camping environments, from the rugged Pacific coastline to temperate rainforests and subalpine meadows. This selection includes established drive-in campgrounds like Kalaloch and Fairholme, which offer amenities such as potable water and toilets, alongside remote backcountry sites like Enchanted Valley and the Seven Lakes Basin. These locations provide direct access to over 600 miles of hiking trails, the Sol Duc River, and unique geological features like the Ozette boardwalks and coastal tide pools.

A

Fairholme Campground

Located on the western shore of Lake Crescent, this site features 88 campsites, a boat launch, and a seasonal general store. It provides access to the Fairholme Self-Guided Nature Trail and the Mt. Storm King trailhead.

Enchanted Valley

A backcountry site in the Quinault River valley, famous for the historic 1930s Enchanted Valley Chalet. The valley is characterized by steep cliffs with numerous seasonal waterfalls and is a frequent corridor for Roosevelt elk.

Hoh Rainforest Campground

Situated within a temperate rainforest near the Hoh River, this campground offers 72 sites. It is positioned near the Hall of Mosses and Spruce Nature trails, known for ancient Sitka spruce and Western hemlock trees.

Kalaloch Campground

A coastal campground situated on a high bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It contains 175 sites and offers direct access to Beach 4 and the 'Tree of Life,' a Sitka spruce with exposed roots.

Sol Duc Campground

Located in the Sol Duc Valley, this site provides access to the Sol Duc Hot Springs and the Sol Duc Falls trail. It features drive-in sites and serves as a primary gateway to the Seven Lakes Basin loop.

Cape Alava Campground

A coastal backcountry site reached via a 3.1-mile boardwalk trail from Lake Ozette. It forms part of the Ozette Loop and is located near the Wedding Rocks petroglyphs, which date back hundreds of years.

Staircase Campground

Located along the North Fork Skokomish River, this campground is surrounded by old-growth Douglas firs. It provides access to the Staircase Rapids Loop and the strenuous Flapjack Lakes trail.

Dosewallips Campground

A former drive-in campground now accessible only by foot or bicycle due to a permanent road washout. Located along the Dosewallips River, it serves as a base for exploring the park's eastern interior.

Lunch Lake Camp

A high-elevation backcountry camp at 5,050 feet within the Seven Lakes Basin. It is situated in a subalpine cirque, offering views of rocky peaks and several small alpine lakes.

Heart Lake Camp

A subalpine backcountry camp located along the High Divide Trail. It sits at approximately 5,050 feet and overlooks a heart-shaped lake, providing a vantage point for viewing Mount Olympus.

Deer Lake Campground

Situated 3.3 miles from the Sol Duc trailhead, this backcountry site sits at 3,500 feet elevation. It is a common stop for hikers ascending toward the High Divide and Seven Lakes Basin.

Ozette Campground

Small campground with 15 sites located on the shores of Lake Ozette, Washington's third-largest natural lake. It serves as the trailhead for the boardwalk paths leading to the Pacific coast.

Queets Campground

A remote, primitive campground in the Queets River valley with 20 sites. Accessible via a long gravel road, it offers a secluded environment within a temperate rainforest.

Graves Creek Campground

Located in the Quinault Rain Forest along the East Fork Quinault River. This site has 30 campsites but does not provide potable water, requiring campers to bring their own or treat river water.

A coastal backcountry site on the Ozette Loop, accessible via a 3-mile boardwalk. It features sandy beaches and extensive tide pools at the edge of the Pacific Ocean.

A remote backcountry camp at 4,500 feet, situated on the ridge between the Hoh River valley and the Seven Lakes Basin. It offers steep trail access to the High Divide.

Mink Lake Campground

A forested backcountry site located 2.6 miles from the Sol Duc Hot Springs area. It sits adjacent to a small subalpine lake at an elevation of 4,135 feet.

North Fork Campground

A primitive campground with 9 sites located along the North Fork Quinault River. It has no potable water and serves as a quiet alternative to the more developed Quinault campgrounds.

Pyrites Creek Camp

A backcountry camp located 9.5 miles from the Graves Creek trailhead. It is a primary stopping point for hikers on the multi-day trek to Enchanted Valley along the Quinault River.

Low Divide Camp

A high-altitude backcountry camp situated at the 3,600-foot pass between the Quinault and Elwha River drainages. It features subalpine meadows and serves as a junction for trans-park hikers.
