Parks and Gardens of Pärnu

Pärnu’s urban landscape is defined by a green belt that evolved from the dismantling of 19th-century city fortifications and the development of its seaside resort. The collection includes Rannapark, established in 1882, and several memorial parks dedicated to influential Estonian figures such as Lydia Koidula and Carl Robert Jakobson. These spaces feature historic monuments, artificial terrain like the Munamäe hill, and dendrological variety, linking the medieval city core with the Baltic coastline.

Rannapark

Established in 1882, this coastal park features diverse tree species and wide walking paths that connect the town center to the sandy beach.

Munamäe park

This park surrounds an artificial hill known as Munamäe, which was originally constructed as part of the city's defensive bastion system.

Koidula park

Centrally located park featuring a 1929 bronze monument by sculptor Amandus Adamson dedicated to the Estonian poet Lydia Koidula.

Jakobsoni park

A memorial park featuring a monument to Carl Robert Jakobson, a key figure of the 19th-century Estonian national awakening.

Brackmanni park

Named after Oscar Alexander Brackmann, the long-serving mayor who developed Pärnu into a resort; the park contains a monument in his honor.

Pärnu Vanapark

One of the city's oldest parks, established in the 1830s on the site of former fortifications and a historic cemetery.
