Pomoravlje District Essentials

The Pomoravlje District preserves the Morava school of medieval Serbian architecture, highlighted by the fortified Manasija and Ravanica monasteries. The Resava region contains significant karst formations, including the 4.5-kilometer-long Resava Cave and the 25-meter-high Veliko Vrelo waterfall. Jagodina serves as a modern hub with its specialized wax museum and zoo, while the ruins of the 14th-century Petrus fortress offer insight into the region's historical defense systems.

Castle

A 15th-century fortified Serbian Orthodox monastery surrounded by 11 massive towers. It served as the center for the Resava School of manuscript transcription and contains significant frescoes from the early 15th century.

Veliko vrelo

A 25-meter-high waterfall located on the slopes of Mount Beljanica. The karst spring feeds into the Veliko Vrelo river, creating significant limestone formations near the entrance to the Resava Cave.

Petrus

Ruins of a 14th-century medieval fortress situated on a hill above the Crnica River. It was once the largest border fortification in the central Morava valley, guarding the interior of the Serbian Despotate.

Prskalo Waterfall

A unique 15-meter-high waterfall on Mount Južni Kučaj, characterized by a tall limestone pillar formed by mineral deposits. It is located in a remote forest setting and remains active throughout the year.
