Castles and Palaces

This collection features the architectural highlights of the UNESCO-listed Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape. It centers on the Neo-Gothic Lednice Château and its surrounding English park, which is dotted with 19th-century Romantic 'follies.' The list includes diverse structures ranging from a Moorish Revival minaret and artificial castle ruins to Classicist temples and Baroque riding halls, reflecting the Liechtenstein family's extensive landscaping and architectural heritage.

Lednice Château

A romantic chateau placed in UNESCO protected area of beautiful parks.

Minaret

Built around the year 1800, the minaret now serves as an outlook tower and makes an excellent walk destination from Chateau Lednice.

Lovecký zámeček

A Classicist hunting lodge built between 1805 and 1806 based on designs by Joseph Hardtmuth. It served as a base for hunting parties and forest management within the estate.

Apollonův chrám

An Empire-style temple built between 1817 and 1819 overlooking the Mill Pond. The facade is decorated with a relief of the sun god Apollo and features a terrace that serves as a viewpoint.

Rybniční zámeček

A Classicist building constructed between 1814 and 1816 on the northern shore of the Prostřední pond. It was originally designed for waterfowl hunting and bird watching.

Hraniční zámeček

A Classicist chateau built between 1826 and 1827. It is positioned directly on the historic border between Moravia and Lower Austria, which is symbolized by a stream flowing through the building's foundations.

Janohrad Castle

An artificial ruin of a medieval castle built in the early 19th century. This Romantic Neo-Gothic folly served as a hunting lodge and a gathering place for the nobility during hunts.

Zámecká jízdárna

A monumental Baroque complex designed by Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach at the end of the 17th century. It is the oldest preserved part of the Lednice estate and originally housed the noble horses.

Akvadukt a umělá jeskyně

A Roman-style aqueduct and artificial stone cave built as part of the romantic landscaping of the castle park in the early 19th century. It functioned as part of the park's irrigation and aesthetic design.
