Lakes and Ponds
This collection features the aquatic landscape of the UNESCO-listed Lednice-Valtice Area. It includes the historic Lednice Ponds—Mlýnský, Prostřední, and Zámecký—which form part of a significant National Nature Reserve and bird sanctuary. The list also covers the winding Černá Dyje river and various oxbow lakes like Zlatý roh and Mahenovo jezero. Marinas at the Minaret and Janohrad provide access to traditional boat tours through the castle park and surrounding riparian forests.
Černá Dyje
Also known as the Old Dyje, this former river branch flows through the Lednice-Valtice Area. It is the primary route for tourist boat cruises connecting Lednice Castle with the Minaret and Janohrad ruins.
Mlýnský rybník
Part of the Lednice Ponds National Nature Reserve, this large pond features the classicist Apollo Temple on its shore and serves as an important nesting site for waterfowl.
Prostřední rybník
A central pond in the Lednice system situated between Mlýnský and Hlohovecký ponds. It is part of a protected bird area and offers views of the surrounding historic monuments.
Zámecký rybník
Located directly within the Lednice Castle park, this pond features several artificial islands. It was designed as part of the English landscape garden and hosts a large colony of grey herons.
Růžový rybník
A smaller pond located south of the main castle grounds, contributing to the irrigation and aesthetic layout of the Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape.
Eda
A small pond situated near the border of the Lednice-Valtice area, contributing to the local hydrological system.
Zlatý roh
An oxbow lake of the Dyje river located in the floodplain forest north of Lednice. It is part of a complex ecosystem supporting rare aquatic plants.
Dlouhé jezero
A narrow, elongated lake formed from a former river meander in the Dyje floodplain.
Azant
One of several floodplain lakes located in the forested area between Lednice and Bulhary, serving as a natural habitat for local wildlife.
Nové jezero
A body of water located near the Stará Dyje river branch, contributing to the wetland ecosystem of the region.
Čapkovo jezero
A small lake situated in the riparian forests of the Dyje river basin.
Stará Dyje
A stagnant water body formed from an old branch of the Dyje river, surrounded by floodplain vegetation.
Stará Dyje
A section of the former riverbed of the Dyje, now functioning as a quiet lake within the protected landscape area.
Mahenovo jezero
A natural lake located in the Dyje floodplain, named after the Czech author Jiří Mahen, who frequented this region.
Gejle
A small floodplain lake near the Stará Dyje, typical of the wetland landscape of southern Moravia.
Janohrad
A boat landing stage located next to the Janův hrad artificial ruins. It serves as a terminus for cruise boats traveling from Lednice Castle and the Minaret.
Minaret
A marina situated at the base of the 60-meter-high Moorish Revival tower. It is a key stop for seasonal boat transport within the Lednice Castle park.
