Parks and Gardens

Surrounding the UNESCO-listed city walls, the expansive moats of Östergravar and Nordergravar provide preserved defensive landscapes. DBW's Botanical Garden

Established in 1855 by the 'De Badande Wännerna' society. Its coastal location and city wall protection create a microclimate suitable for exotic trees, magnolias, and a notable rose garden.

Packhusplan

A historic square in the heart of Visby that served as the city's central marketplace and administrative hub during the Hanseatic era.

Almedalen

A public park situated on the site of Visby's medieval harbor. It features a large pond and serves as the primary venue for Sweden's annual Almedalen political week.

Östergravar

Part of the medieval fortification system, these former dry moats outside the eastern city walls now serve as an expansive green space for public events and recreation.

Nordergravar

The northern section of the medieval city wall's defensive ditches, characterized by steep embankments and open grassy areas used for walks and seasonal festivities.

Valdemarskorset

A memorial cross marking the site of a 1361 mass grave for Gotlandic peasants who fell during the Danish invasion led by King Valdemar Atterdag.
