Ella Nature & Viewpoints

The Ella region is defined by the dramatic topography of Sri Lanka's central highlands. This collection features prominent geological formations like the 1,141-meter Little Adam's Peak and the sheer cliffs of Mini World's End. It includes significant hydrological sites such as the 64-meter Dunhinda Falls and the tiered Rawana Ella Falls, known for its connection to the Ramayana epic. Engineering landmarks are also highlighted, specifically the Nine Arches Bridge and the Demodara Loop, where the railway spirals through the mountainous terrain.

Little Adam's Peak

This 1,141-meter peak features a path through tea plantations leading to a summit with 360-degree views of the Ella Gap and the southern plains.

Ella Rock

A challenging trekking route that starts along railway tracks and ascends through eucalyptus forests to a cliff-side viewpoint overlooking Little Adam's Peak.

Rawana Ella Falls

A 25-meter-high waterfall cascading over a concave rock outcrop. Local legend identifies the nearby caves as the site where King Ravana hidden Princess Sita.

Nine Arches Bridge Viewpoint

An overlook of the colonial-era viaduct built in 1921. The bridge is constructed entirely of brick, rock, and cement without the use of structural steel.

Dunhinda Falls

Located near Badulla, this 64-meter waterfall is fed by the Badulu Oya. It is named for the 'smoky' mist created by the water column.

Mini World's End

A dramatic escarpment in the Madulsima mountain range providing panoramic views across the Uva and Eastern provinces from a sheer cliff edge.

Demodara Train Viewing Point

A vantage point to observe the Demodara Loop, a railway engineering feat where the track spirals around a mountain and passes through a tunnel beneath itself.
