Blida, known as the City of Roses, serves as a significant administrative and educational hub at the foot of the Atlas Mountains. The city features the Mustapha Tchaker Stadium, the long-time home of Algeria’s national football team, and two major academic institutions: the University of Blida 1, focused on science and technology, and the University of Blida 2 in El Affroun. The nearby Douera Dam functions as a major water reservoir for irrigation across the Mitidja plain.
