Lakes and Wetlands

This collection highlights the diverse aquatic landscapes of Kiruna and the surrounding Scandinavian mountains, from expansive basins to remote alpine tarns. It includes Torneträsk, one of Sweden's deepest lakes, and transborder waters like Kilpisjärvi and Rostojávri, shared with Finland and Norway. These lakes form the headwaters of the Torne River system and are set within subarctic wetlands and tundra, offering essential habitats for regional wildlife and serving as key landmarks for northern hiking routes.
