Locarno
Locarno lies at the northern tip of Lake Maggiore and is the sunniest town in Switzerland. It has palm trees, arcades and a mild climate. Italian is the main language.
The town is small and relaxed. It is known for its film festival, a hilltop pilgrimage church and the lakeside. Most visitors stay one or two nights.
