Scenic Nature & Waterfalls

Central Taiwan’s Nantou County and surrounding highlands offer a diverse range of aquatic and alpine landscapes. This collection spans from the 3,275-meter high Wuling lookout in Hehuanshan to the expansive Sun Moon Lake. It highlights numerous waterfalls including the cavernous Matsuzaka Falls and the multi-tiered Yunlong Falls. Zhushan Sunrise Viewing Platform

Elevated platform in the Alishan National Scenic Area, accessible via the Zhushan Forest Railway. It is a primary location for viewing the sunrise over the Central Mountain Range and the sea of clouds phenomenon.

Wu ling liao wang tai

Situated at 3,275 meters above sea level on Provincial Highway 14, this is the highest point on Taiwan’s public road system, offering views of the Hehuanshan mountain peaks.

Located in Sun Link Sea Forest Recreation Area, this waterfall features a massive natural sandstone cavern and hanging stalactites behind the water curtain.

A 30-meter waterfall in the Dongpu area. A rainbow is frequently visible in the spray during sunny afternoons. It is reached via a 40-minute uphill trail.

A three-tier waterfall located at the 4.3km mark of the Batongguan Historic Trail. It drops approximately 100 meters down the cliff face into the Chenyoulan River valley.

Xiang shan tiao wang ping tai

A cantilevered observation deck near the Xiangshan Visitor Center that extends 10 meters over Sun Moon Lake, providing 270-degree views of the water.

A narrow river canyon in the Wujie area where two cliffs nearly meet. It is typically accessible by hiking along the Zhuoshui River bed during the dry season.
