Western Australia Waterfalls

Western Australia’s waterfalls range from the ancient ironstone tiers of Karijini National Park to the remote, multi-tiered cascades of the Kimberley. This collection includes Mitchell Falls (Punamii-unpuu), famous for its four distinct levels, and seasonal coastal falls like Quininup near Yallingup. Many of these sites, such as Fortescue Falls, offer permanent swimming holes, while others in the Drysdale River National Park are accessible only by air or rugged 4WD tracks following the summer wet season.

Fortescue Falls

Permanent waterfall in Karijini National Park. The water cascades down natural ironstone terraces into a deep swimming hole that leads toward the spring-fed Fern Pool.

Black Rock Waterfall

A seasonal waterfall near Kununurra that flows over dark, weather-worn cliffs into a large swimming pool during the wet season months.

Middle Springs Waterfall

A multi-tiered seasonal waterfall near Kununurra featuring several rock pools suitable for swimming when water levels are high.

Black Rock Falls

A high-drop waterfall over dark rock formations near Kununurra. It is most active during the summer monsoon season and features a deep plunge pool at its base.

Quininup Falls

A seasonal 10-metre waterfall located along the Cape to Cape Track near Yallingup. It flows most strongly during winter and spring, cascading toward the Indian Ocean.

Bindoola Falls

Located off the Gibb River Road, this waterfall drops over wide sandstone cliffs into a gorge. The flow is typically strongest in the early dry season.

Boiga Falls

A remote, multi-tiered waterfall situated within the Drysdale River National Park, accessible primarily by air or challenging off-road expeditions.

Mitchel Falls

Also known as Punamii-unpuu, this iconic four-tiered waterfall in Mitchell River National Park is carved into ancient sandstone. Access is via a 8.6km return hike or helicopter.

Morgan Falls

A secluded waterfall in the Drysdale River National Park, characterized by its remote Kimberley location and rugged sandstone surroundings.

Elasmias Falls

A remote waterfall located in the northern Kimberley region within Drysdale River National Park, typically viewed via scenic flights.

Cacticus Falls

Crocodile Creek swimming ponds and waterfalls
