This region includes the steep-walled Avakas Gorge and the 370-meter summit of Moutti tis Sotiras, which offers views over Chrysochou Bay. The peninsula's marine protected areas, such as Lara Bay and the Pegeia sea caves, serve as vital breeding grounds for endangered Green and Loggerhead turtles and the rare Mediterranean monk seal.
