This selection features essential mountain accommodation across the Aurlandsdalen valley and the surrounding Aurland highlands. The list includes a mix of staffed lodges, self-service DNT (Norwegian Trekking Association) cabins, and private fjellstoves. These sites provide strategic rest points for hikers traversing the historic route between Finse and Flåm, offering traditional Norwegian architecture and basic amenities in remote alpine terrain, ranging from high-altitude wilderness shelters to fjord-side chalets.

Aurlandsdalen Turisthytte

Staffed DNT lodge at Østerbø. Serves as a key overnight stop for hikers on the Aurlandsdalen trek, offering meals and dormitory or private room accommodation.

Østerbø Fjellstove

Private mountain lodge located at Østerbø. Features a range of accommodation from hotel-standard rooms to basic cabins and camping facilities.

Steinbergdalen Turisthytte

Historic mountain lodge built in 1895, situated at 1,070 meters above sea level. Located on the hiking trail between Geiterygghytta and Østerbø.

Upsete fjellstove

Mountain lodge situated at Upsete station on the Bergen Line. Accessible only by train or on foot, serving as a gateway to the mountains west of Myrdal.

Kongshelleren

Self-service DNT cabin located at 1,450 meters above sea level. Situated in the high-alpine terrain between Geiterygghytta and Iungdalshytta.

Grindaflethytta

DNT self-service cabin located at 1,095 meters on the mountain plateau between Flåm and Voss. Accessible via hiking trails from the Flåm valley.

Fretheim fjordhytter

Waterfront cabins located on the banks of the Aurlandsfjord in Flåm, featuring traditional wooden architecture and views of the fjord.

Winjum Hyter

Self-catering cabin accommodation located in Flåm, providing proximity to the Aurlandsfjord and the Flåm Railway.

Rallerosa

Traditional mountain dairy farm and seasonal cafe located at Myrdal along the Rallarvegen cycling route. Offers basic accommodation and local goat cheese.
