Sacred Sites
Bethlehem’s spiritual landscape is anchored by the Church of the Nativity, a 4th-century basilica marking the traditional birthplace of Jesus. Nearby, the Chapel of the Milk Grotto features a unique white grotto associated with the Holy Family’s flight to Egypt. The surrounding Judean desert houses significant monastic sites, including the dramatic 5th-century Mar Saba cliffside complex and the Monastery of St. Theodosius. To the north, Mar Elias Monastery provides a historical link between Jerusalem and Bethlehem, offering panoramic views of the Judean hills and Herodium.
