Connacht Essentials
Connacht spans Ireland's rugged western coast, featuring the 11-kilometer Sky Road loop and the 50-meter sea stack at Downpatrick Head. The region preserves significant heritage, from the 6th-century monastic ruins of Clonmacnoise to the 18th-century Westport House. Natural landmarks include the carbonate sands of Dogs Bay and Keem Beach, the peatlands of Connemara National Park, and Glencar Waterfall, which famously inspired the poetry of W.B. Yeats.

An 18th-century historic house designed by architects Richard Cassels and James Wyatt. It was built for the Browne family over the foundations of a 16th-century castle belonging to the pirate queen Grace O'Malley.
