Dachau Essentials

Dachau's historic Old Town is defined by its ridge-top location and rich cultural heritage. The center features the Renaissance Dachau Palace, a former Wittelsbach residence renowned for its ornate wooden ceiling, and the surrounding Court Garden. The town's legacy as a major 19th-century artists' colony is preserved in the Gemäldegalerie and the District Museum. Architectural landmarks like the St. Jakob parish church and the repurposed historic water tower complement panoramic views that extend across the Munich plain to the Alps.
