Heritage Sites of Dartmoor

Dartmoor’s granite landscape contains a high concentration of archaeological remains spanning from the Neolithic to the medieval period. This collection features significant English Heritage sites, including the well-preserved Bronze Age settlement at Grimspound and the extensive megalithic complex at Merrivale. Visitors can explore defensive ruins ranging from the Norman motte-and-bailey at Okehampton to the 20th-century revivalist Castle Drogo, alongside historic stone bridges and deserted medieval villages that reveal centuries of moorland habitation.
