Castles and Fortifications

The Meuse Valley near Dinant contains a high concentration of defensive strongholds and noble estates. The Citadel of Dinant stands as a dominant military fortress overlooking the river, while the Castle of Freÿr showcases formal gardens inspired by Le Nôtre. Medieval history is preserved in the ruins of Crèvecœur Castle in Bouvignes and the site of Waulsort Abbey, a former Benedictine monastery.
