Historic Alpine Huts

This collection features historic cattlemen's huts and wilderness shelters scattered across the Victorian Alpine National Park and Gippsland high country. These structures, such as the stone-built Cleve Cole Hut on Mount Bogong and the uniquely named Moscow Villa at Bentley’s Plain, provide essential emergency refuge for hikers and 4WD adventurers. They preserve the heritage of early pastoralists, featuring traditional timber and iron construction methods used by families like the Guys and Scotts in the remote Wonnangatta and Moroka valleys.
