Majestic Peaks & Cliffs

Glacier National Park’s landscape is defined by dramatic geological formations shaped by ancient glaciation. This collection features prominent summits like Chief Mountain, a site of spiritual significance to the Blackfeet Nation, and Triple Divide Peak, the hydrologic apex where water flows toward the Pacific, Atlantic, and Arctic oceans. From the sharp arête of The Garden Wall to the remote, high-altitude summits of Kintla and Rainbow Peaks in the Livingston Range, these landmarks showcase the park's rugged sedimentary rock layers and sheer vertical cliffs.

Chief Mountain

Chief Mountain is located in the U.S. state of Montana on the eastern border of Glacier National Park and the Blackfeet Indian Reservation.

Mount Wilbur

A 9,321-foot pyramid-shaped peak in the Many Glacier region, known for its sheer limestone cliffs and technical climbing routes.

Triple Divide Peak

Triple Divide Peak is located in the Lewis Range, part of the Rocky Mountains in North America.

The Garden Wall

A prominent arête forming part of the Continental Divide, characterized by sharp ridges and visible from the Highline Trail and Going-to-the-Sun Road.

Grinnell Point

A distinct peak in the Many Glacier area situated between Swiftcurrent Lake and Lake Josephine, showcasing layers of Grinnell Formation sedimentary rock.

Dragon’s Tail

A jagged arête located south of Logan Pass, extending from Mount Reynolds and overlooking Hidden Lake.

Glacier Wall

A massive vertical cliff face located near the Loop on the Going-to-the-Sun Road, forming part of the western edge of the Garden Wall.

Mount Custer

A peak in the remote northern region near the Canadian border, featuring the Herbst Glacier on its slopes.

Kintla Peak

The highest point in the Livingston Range at 10,101 feet, located in the remote northwest corner of the park near Kintla Lake.

Rainbow Peak

A prominent 9,891-foot summit in the Livingston Range, situated north of Bowman Lake and south of Kintla Peak.

Bighorn Peak

A high summit located in the remote Livingston Range in the northwestern section of the park.

Vulture Peak

A high peak in the Livingston Range that hosts the Vulture Glacier, one of the park's remaining active glaciers.
