Religious Sites of Haifa District

The Haifa District serves as a major spiritual center, housing significant landmarks for Baha'i, Druze, Christian, Muslim, and Jewish communities. On Mount Carmel, the gold-domed Shrine of the Bab stands as a UNESCO World Heritage site, while the Muhraqa monastery marks the traditional location of the Prophet Elijah’s challenge. The district also features the Ahmadiyya Mahmood Mosque, the Druze shrine of Makam Abu Ebrahim in Daliyat al-Karmel, and the tomb of the martyred Rabbi Yehuda ben Baba.

Muhraqa

This Discalced Carmelite monastery, situated at 474 meters on Keren Karmel, marks the traditional site of Prophet Elijah's confrontation with the prophets of Baal. Its rooftop provides expansive views across the Jezreel Valley and the Galilee.

Shrine of the Bab

The final resting place of the Bab, herald of the Baha'i Faith, this gold-domed shrine is a centerpiece of a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is surrounded by 19 terraced gardens that cascade down the northern slope of Mount Carmel.

Makam Abu Ebrahim

A significant Druze holy site in Daliyat al-Karmel dedicated to one of the faith's founding prophets. Located in the town's western neighborhood, it serves as a center for prayer and religious gathering.

Mahmood Mosque, Haifa

Mahmood Mosque is a mosque in Kababir, Haifa, Israel. It was built by the Ahmadiyya Muslim community in the late 1970s.
