Temples and Shrines

Himeji’s spiritual landscape features a blend of historic Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples deeply connected to the city's identity. From Osakabe Shrine, tied to the legends of Himeji Castle, to Matsubara Hachiman Shrine, home to the famous Nada no Kenka Matsuri festival, these sites offer insight into regional traditions. The collection includes the mountain-top Hiromine Shrine, a key site for the Gion cult, and tranquil temples like Osho-ji, renowned for its blooming Sal trees.

Osakabe Shrine
