Juneau's Natural Wonders

Juneau’s rugged landscape is defined by the massive Juneau Icefield and the coastal rainforest of the Tongass. A

Nugget Falls

A 377-foot waterfall dropping into Mendenhall Lake at the base of the Mendenhall Glacier. It is fed by the Nugget Glacier and accessible via a flat 0.8-mile trail from the visitor center.

Twin Lakes

Man-made lakes located along Egan Drive. The area features a public park and is frequently stocked with landlocked salmon and trout for recreational fishing.

Ebner Falls

A waterfall located along the Perseverance Trail in the Gold Creek valley. The site is situated near historic gold mining ruins dating back to the late 19th century.

Cedar Lake

Small lake located at the northern end of the Juneau road system near the Echo Cove area.

Alpine lake located at the end of the Granite Creek Trail, approximately 3.5 miles from the trailhead within the Tongass National Forest.

Remote lake situated near the terminus of the Eagle Glacier in the Boundary Ranges, primarily accessible by air or strenuous backcountry navigation.

Lions Head Mountain

A 3,000-foot peak near Berners Bay known for its distinctive profile resembling a reclining lion, serving as a landmark for navigation in the Lynn Canal.

The highest peak of the Juneau Icefield, standing at 8,584 feet. It marks Unmarked Boundary Point 93 on the international border between Alaska and British Columbia.
