Kochi's Best Arts & Heritage

Fort Kochi’s landscape is defined by its colonial history and evolving contemporary art scene. David Hall

Restored 17th-century Dutch bungalow originally built for the Dutch East India Company. It now functions as a contemporary art gallery and cultural hub, often hosting exhibitions during the Kochi-Muziris Biennale.

Chinese Fishing Nets

Fixed land-based lift nets dating back to the 14th century. Operated by a system of pulleys and weights, these cantilevered structures are a remnant of Kochi's historical trade links with China.

Aspinwall House

A 19th-century waterfront heritage complex that formerly served as the headquarters of Aspinwall & Co. It is the primary venue for the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, featuring multiple warehouses and laboratories converted into galleries.

Bastion Bungalow

Built in 1667 on the site of the Stromberg Bastion of the Dutch Fort Emmanuel. The structure features Indo-European architecture with circular towers and now houses the District Heritage Museum.

Ernakulam District Heritage Museum

Located within the historic Bastion Bungalow, this museum exhibits maps, paintings, and artifacts detailing the colonial history and maritime trade of the Ernakulam district.

Greenix Ventures

A cultural center showcasing traditional Kerala arts, including Kathakali dance and Kalaripayattu martial arts. The facility includes a dedicated theater and a museum of ethnic artifacts.

Cabral Yard

A former industrial space and coir warehouse used as a key venue for the Kochi-Muziris Biennale. It typically hosts the Biennale Pavilion, serving as a space for discussions and experimental art installations.
