Palaces and Monuments
Košice’s historic center is defined by its concentration of aristocratic residences and commemorative landmarks, primarily situated along the central Hlavná Street. This collection features Baroque, Rococo-Classical, and Neo-Baroque architecture, including the Archbishop's Palace and the 18th-century Plague Column. It also highlights memorials dedicated to influential figures such as Sándor Márai and Mikhail Kutuzov, alongside structural remains of the city's imperial administration, like the Spiš Chamber Palace and various noble family estates.
Mikhail Kutuzov
Prince Mikhail Illarionovich Golenishchev-Kutuzov-Smolensky was a Field Marshal of the Russian Empire.
Marai's Sculpture
A bronze statue commemorating the world-renowned writer and Košice native, Sándor Márai. The sculpture depicts the author sitting in a chair, with an empty chair placed opposite for visitors.
