Ladysmith Essentials

Ladysmith’s history is defined by the 118-day Anglo-Boer War siege. This collection highlights the town's military heritage through the Siege Museum, housed in a 19th-century market hall, and the Town Hall, which survived direct artillery fire. The Platrand ridge provides a focal point for remembrance, containing the Burgher and Imperial Light Horse memorials. The list also includes the 1910 Sufi Mosque, a landmark of Edwardian-era Islamic architecture situated on the banks of the Klip River.
