Lagos Must-Sees

Lagos balances its maritime history with a dramatic coastline of limestone formations. The town's heritage is anchored by the 18th-century Igreja de Santo António, famous for its Baroque gilded woodcarvings, and the 15th-century site of Europe's first slave market. Along the shore, the 17th-century Forte da Ponta da Bandeira guards the harbor entrance.
