Theatres and Art Centers

Madrid’s performing arts and exhibition scene spans centuries of architectural history. This collection features the 19th-century ferrovitreous Crystal Palace and neoclassical Velázquez Palace, both located in El Retiro Park and hosting contemporary art. The historic Royal Theatre, dating to 1850, serves as the city’s premier opera house. Modern additions include the Teatros del Canal, a contemporary complex for dance and drama, and La Neomudéjar, an avant-garde arts center housed in a former railway warehouse.
