Meteora Must-Sees
Meteora is a UNESCO World Heritage site defined by towering sandstone pillars and 14th-century Eastern Orthodox monasteries. This collection includes the iconic Holy Trinity and St. Nicholas Anapausas monasteries, known for their post-Byzantine frescoes and cliffside architecture. Beyond the monastic complexes, the list features the prehistoric Theopetra Cave, which contains evidence of human habitation spanning 130,000 years, and the Hellenic Culture Museum, which preserves rare Greek manuscripts and educational artifacts.
Virgin Mary
An 11th-century Byzantine church built over the ruins of an ancient temple of Apollo. It features 14th-century frescoes and a rare marble pulpit situated in the center of the nave.
Pantokrator
Archaeological remains of a former monastery situated on a prominent rock formation within the Meteora complex.
